Make ideas real. Learn fast. Stay open.
A 90-minute session on turning a half-formed idea into something you can put in front of someone else, fast enough to learn from it and rough enough to still change.
Before you book
Two minutes on what the session actually covers and who it's for.
The problem
It's easy to talk an idea into sounding great. It's much harder to know if it actually works until someone else tries to use it.
An idea can survive a dozen meetings without ever meeting a real user.
Time spent perfecting a concept before testing it is often time spent perfecting the wrong thing.
By the time most prototypes are shown to anyone, they're too finished to change easily.
If you've ever built something polished that nobody wanted, this is the session that shows you when to build rough instead.
The core idea
Build just enough to learn something real.
Prototyping 101 gives you a practical approach to making ideas tangible fast: choosing the right fidelity for the question you're actually trying to answer and staying open to what you learn.
How it works
The 90 minutes are the middle. What happens either side is what makes them stick.
No pre-work worksheet. Watch the two-minute intro above if you like, then just show up ready to think about your own idea or project.
Optional, before the sessionArne van Oosterom walks you through how to choose the right kind of prototype for the question you're asking. You build one live, on your own idea.
90 minutes, live onlineTake your certificate, then bring what you've learned back to your work, or go further with a private session for your whole team.
Optional · ongoingWhat you take away
This is an introduction and it's honest about that. Ninety minutes buys you a working approach for your own idea, which is more than most courses manage in a day.
How to choose how rough or refined a prototype should be, based on what you're actually trying to learn.
101Why the goal of a prototype is a good question answered, not a finished product.
101How to put something unfinished in front of someone else without it feeling premature.
101How to treat feedback as information instead of a verdict on the idea.
